These Ancient Gnarled trunk Olive trees (olea europaea) are a hardy and evergreen tree, which combined with their delicate and ornamental foliage makes them a great focal point for your outdoor space.

Native to the Mediterranean, Olive trees are are ideal for planting in pots/urns on your terrace or outdoor space. We recommend planting them in a suitably sized pot/urn with a potting mix of equal multi purpose compost, John Innes no 3, slow release fertiliser and plenty of gravel for drainage. Please note that these Ancient Gnarled Olive trees are extremely heavy and difficult to move once potted. If you are intending to place them in a pot/urn we advise placing the pot/urn in the correct position before planting.

Olive trees planted in the UK can produce olives if given plenty of sun following at least three months of cold weather, but this cannot be guaranteed as they are used to warmer and drier climates.

While Olive trees are hardy they should be protected from prolonged cold winter winds and extreme frosts. Frost blankets can be purchased from numerous online retailers.

ABOUT THIS ANCIENT GNARLED OLIVE TREE

Our Ancient Gnarled Olive trees are all listed separately as each tree is unique: no two are the same. The gnarled tree trunks are heavily textured and brown-grey in colour which contrasts well against the silvery green-grey foliage. This Ancient Gnarled Olive tree is over 100 years old and has a very large girth trunk ranging from 50cm-100cm in circumference at the widest. The tree ball has been trimmed to produce a loose ball shape with the trees supplied generally having a spread of 80cm-90cm

We hand select all our trees to ensure that we stock only the best examples of these Ancient Gnarled Olive trees. - with these trees in particular we aim to match pairs and groups of trees for convenience should you wish to purchase a pair or group of trees to meet your outside space designs.

All our trees are photographed against a standard 6ft high fence panel for scaling purposes and all heights specified are from the base of the pot. Pots are about 50cm high. Please note the images are of the actual tree you will be purchasing.
